How much does a new bathroom cost?
A typical new bathroom in the UK costs between £5,500 and £8,000 including fitting, with an average of about £7,000. A simple refresh of an existing room can start from around £4,000, while a large, high-end or complex bathroom can run to £14,000 or more.
The figure moves most with how much the layout changes and the fittings you choose. A like-for-like replacement keeps costs down. Moving the toilet, adding a separate shower or knocking two rooms into one adds plumbing and building work.

How much does an ensuite cost?
An ensuite or shower room uses many of the same trades as a full bathroom in a smaller space, so the cost per square metre is often higher. As a guide, a standard ensuite with us usually comes in at around £7,000 to £8,000, depending on the fittings and how much plumbing needs to move.
A brand-new ensuite, rather than a replacement, can cost more because the waste and water supply have to be brought to the room. Loft ensuites also need extra time for access and working under sloping ceilings.

A full kitchen renovation using standard units typically costs between £6,200 and £16,800 in the UK, with an average of about £11,500. A bespoke kitchen ranges from around £15,000 to £50,000.
Fitting alone usually costs £3,700 to £9,300, on top of the units, worktops and appliances. Solid wood or stone worktops, an island and moving the sink or cooker all add to the total.

What affects the price
Seven things decide most of the cost. We talk through each of them at the visit, so there are no surprises later.
Size and layout
A larger room needs more tiles, more flooring and more time. Keeping the toilet, bath and sink where they are is the biggest single saving.
Moving plumbing and waste
Moving a toilet means moving the soil pipe. It is often possible, but it adds labour and sometimes floor work.
What we find behind the walls
Old pipework, rotten joists or uneven floors only show once the old room is stripped out. We tell you straight away if we find anything.
The fittings you choose
A freestanding bath, brass taps or a stone worktop cost more than standard options. We will tell you where spending more is worth it.
Tiling
Floor-to-ceiling tiling, large-format tiles and patterns take longer to lay than a half-tiled wall.
Electrics
New lighting, extractor fans, shaver points and kitchen circuits are done by NICEIC-registered electricians and certified.
Access
Loft ensuites, top-floor flats and tight stairways add time for carrying materials and removing waste.
What a good quote should include
Quotes often look different because they cover different things. When you compare them, check each one includes these, so you are comparing the same job.
